About Your Tech Neighbour
Meet Your Tech Neighbour
My name is Graham Low, and I was born and raised in Nanaimo. My relationship with technology started at a very young age. When I was eight, my parents bought our first computer, and I was immediately fascinated by it. By the time I was nine, I had coded my first webpage.
As I went through school, I had a habit of taking things apart, experimenting, and occasionally breaking something along the way, including the family computer, more than once. Sorry Dad. On the positive side, though, I was the only one able to learn how to fix it and it was truly the beginning of my journey. By the age of 16, I had built my first computer.
That curiosity became a lifelong interest in technology and problem-solving.
A Foot in Both Worlds
Being born in the 1980s has given me a perspective that I think is especially valuable today. I grew up with one foot in the analog world and the other in the digital world.
I remember what life was like before technology became part of almost everything we do, while also growing up alongside computers, the internet, and digital technology that has transformed everyday life.
I believe that makes me an excellent bridge between the two worlds, especially when helping people who didn’t grow up with today’s technology.
Technology shouldn’t be something you feel intimidated by. It should be something you feel comfortable using.
More Than 35 Years of Technology Experience
I’ve spent more than 35 years working with computers, technology, and digital security. From those humble years of breaking the family computer to several years providing technical support for one of Canada’s largest internet service providers, technology has been a constant part of my life. I’ve also provided technology support for Vi Premium Contracting and Nanaimo Laser here in Nanaimo, helping with the everyday technical problems that come with running a business.
I also have a Bachelor of Business Administration with a double major in Finance and Marketing from Vancouver Island University. Straight out of university, I started and operated various online businesses, giving me experience not only with technology, but with the business and people side of things as well. I also built the Your Tech Neighbour website myself, from the design and content to the systems that help the business operate online.
But credentials and experience only tell part of the story.
I’ve always enjoyed meeting new people, solving problems, and helping others. That’s a big part of what makes this rewarding work for me.
Why I Started Your Tech Neighbour
After years of working with technology, I realized there was a gap in the market for something different.
There are computer repair businesses that provide valuable technical services, but I saw an opportunity for something more personal. I wanted to create a local Nanaimo service where seniors could have someone come to their home, take the time to understand what they need, explain things clearly, and help them feel comfortable with their technology.
Then I volunteered at a scam awareness seminar.
There were 20 people registered to attend and about 70 showed up.
That experience really opened my eyes to how much help seniors need when it comes to scams and digital safety. It became clear to me that people need more than information about scams. They need someone they can actually turn to when something doesn’t look right.
That became an important part of why Your Tech Neighbour offers both technology support and Scam Protection.
What I Want for You
My goal is simple:
I want you to feel as safe and as comfortable with your technology as I do with mine.
Whether you need help fixing a computer, setting up a new device, solving a Wi-Fi problem, or deciding whether that suspicious email or phone call is legitimate, you should never feel embarrassed about asking for help.
I’ll take the time to listen, explain things in plain language, and help you decide what to do next.
No judgment. No pressure. No technical jargon.
Just a neighbour you can turn to when you need a little help with technology.
Let’s Talk
If you need help with your technology, or you’re just not sure what to do next, I’m here to help.
No pressure. No obligation. Just a conversation.
